Congratulations to Parnell's as they secured the U16 League and Championship Double
Parnell's defeated Dulwich in the U16 Football Championship final in Ruislip on Saturday the 11th of October 2014 with a final score line of Parnell's 4-07 to Dulwich Harps 1-07Parnell's completed a fantastic season by beating Dulwich Harps in the U16 Championship final in Ruislip on Saturday by a score line of 4-7 to 1-2. This followed a League win 2 weeks previous at the same venue.
The weather conditions were ideal for football with a slight breeze blowing west to east. Parnell's started the first half with the breeze in their backs and following a bright start missed some easy scores with wayward shooting. It took a free kick from Connor Spinks from all of 40 yards out to open the score. The teams at this stage were very evenly matched with Dulwich Harps winning a lot of possession in the middle of the park and putting a lot of pressure on the Parnell's defence which were coping well. An opportunist goal from Spinks increased Parnells lead as well as points from Liam Sheridan and Andrew Gilroy before Dulwich opened their scores with a well taken point. With ten minutes remaining of the first half Dulwich were awarded a penalty which was executed perfectly to the lower right hand corner of the net. It was now game on, two evenly matched teams playing end to end football with the prospects of a mouthwatering second half in place to decide this encounter.
Parnell's started the second half very bright with Gilroy and Callinan winning a lot of possession on the forty and causing havoc in the Dulwich defence. As well Harry Logan had entered the fray and was proving to be a target man on the edge of the square, two goals and a point later Logan had put this game out of the reach of Dulwich, complimented by a well taken point from O Donoghue after some good inter play.
Parnell's defense stood solid all through the game with great performances from Jack Woulfe at full back and half back line of Stephen Lally, Callum Raybould and Man of the Match Neil McNamara outstanding throughout. Captain Connor Spinks with 2-02 to his name was very impressive as was half forwards Alan Callinan and Andrew Gilroy and super sub Harry Logan who ended up with a tally of 2-01 for his efforts. Notwithstanding all of the panel have contributed massively to a hugely successful season and should be commended on an outstanding achievement.
