Parnellâs Youth GFC U8/10 Football/Hurling Blitz
To start off the season for 2014 Parnell Youths Club were hosts to an U6's/U8's/10's Football/Hurling blitz at Northwick Park playing fields last Saturday the 26th of April. First time both Hurlers and Footballers togged out displaying their skills in a mixed blitz. .
The footballers started the show with Parnellâs, Taraâs, North London Shamrocks and St Kiernanâs all fielding for the Under 6,8 and 10 category and Thomas McCurtainâs fielding for U10's. The blitz got off to a promising start which was made even better by the appearance of blue skies and sunshine. The U 6's were tremendous with every one of the players showing real passion and delight. However itâs fair to say that all teams participated well and some great young talent was on display which should hopefully lead to what we hope will be a fantastic and eventful season. Followed by the girls football was on display, where Parnell's and Tara's and TCG mixed up all the girls to make up two teams and played a match. The girls showed great enjoyment whilst developing their skills
When all the football was wrapped up it was the young hurlerâs time to shine, the introduction of a mixed blitz gave an opportunity for some of our young footballers to take a hurler stick into their hand and give the small ball a try. Representation from Granuaileâs, Fr Murphyâs and Kilburn Gaels allowed the spectators to see the fantastic sport of hurling in full flow. A great display of hurling was given with all the children involved demonstrating just was a tremendous and skilled sport hurling is. Thanks to all the clubs involved for their attendance and for their participation in what was a fantastic day of sport. Thanks as usual to all the parents for their support in helping the youths grow and develop in the Gaelic games.
