The competition named after the late and great Dermot Early is a provincial talent academy day organised by the Connacht council. This was the first time London have participated after receiving an invitation.
London played a challenge match against Eire Ãg from Roscommon at Ballaghadreen on Friday winning the game 1-08 /4-10. Saturday they participated in the Dermot Earley Tournament that was addressed by the Taoiseach Enda Kenny. London played Roscommon in their first game and were narrowly beaten by one point with a score of 1-04 to 1-05. Next they played Galway but were unlucky not to win with this game ending up a draw London 1-02 to Galway 0-05. The next game they played Leitrim after a slow start London went on to win 0-07 to 0-04. London finished up by playing Mayo North and South and recorded their biggest win 2-03 to 0-01. This was Mayo's only defeat of the day. The London team competed well, only losing one game against the other development squads which was a fantastic achievement considering the amount of game and preparation time the team gets, and the amount of teams in London (8) London were complimented by various other coaches on their level of skills and proves underage Gaelic football in London is alive and kickingLondon U16 team would like to thank all the club coaches and mentors for their hard work and dedication, also the London County Board for sanctioning the trip and the Connacht GAA Coaching and games Committee for the invitation and of course all the Youth Board Sponsors for their continued support in helping make all these trips possible.
