June 14, 2013
Following last years very successful, inaugural, All Britain Competition, we are delighted to announce that the 2013 staging has again attracted a high-profile list of sponsors.
O'Neills Sportswear and The Irish Post are again involved, as the Main Tournament Sponsor and Official Media Partner respectively. Joining them this year is ESB, Ireland's leading energy provider and an ever growing presence in the UK market through their London and Glasgow offices.
Speaking this week, Brendie Brien, Chairperson of the Provincial Council of Britain GAA said "We're delighted to welcome ESB on board as sponsors of the All Britain Competition. They are a major household name and their involvement adds even more prestige to the weekend. The ESB will sponsor each individual age group at the ABC and we're honoured that they have chosen to join with us, as they continue build on their long-standing sponsorship of the All-Ireland U18 Hurling and Football Championships in Ireland".
Clare Duffy, UK General Manager of ESB added "ESB has a very long history of association with the GAA, and we are delighted to be able to continue to support generations of up and coming GAA players in Britain. Like the GAA, ESB has deep roots across all Irish communities and we are now expanding our operations in Great Britain in preparation for the integration of the Irish and British electricity markets. We wish all of the players the very best of luck in the competition".
Following on from London's historic win over Sligo and Warwickshire's breath-taking Lory Meagher Cup win, these are indeed very exciting times for the GAA in Britain. The involvement of companies like ESB at juvenile level is an indication of how serious we take the development of Gaelic Games at grassroots level and this new alliance will no doubt serve to strengthen the Association right across the UK.
