Peter McGlynn Memorial Tournament
Peter McGlynn Memorial Tournament
May 08, 2013
Over 400 children enjoyed a glorious Bank Holiday Monday of Gaelic Football at TCG. A total of 37 teams (boys, girls and mixed) took part in games from under 8 up to under 14. All were well supported by friends and family producing a great atmosphere at Greenford. In the main competitions, the Peter McGlynn Memorial U13 Boys Cup was won by St Kiernans, the Shield by Thomas McCurtains and the Plate by St Brendans. On the girls side, Parnells won the cup with TCG U14s taking the Shield and TCG U12s in their first competition winning the Plate. We were delighted to see so many girls playing and we're hoping that gaelic football for girls now take off and more clubs will get involved as there seems to be great interest. Well done and thanks to all the winners and to all the other teams who took part making it a great spectacle with good football and competitive games at all ages.
A massive Thank You to all who helped put the day together, the TCG Clubhouse staff, All the Youth Board Members who organised the event, set up the pitches and ran the tuck shop, hot food etc. for the day, Our Young and old(er) referees, Christina Curran for running the First Aid Station, Michael Kennedy for organising the parking. A big thanks for sponsorship from Adrian Byrne and James McFadden. Lastly a special Welcome back and Thanks to Michael and Margaret McGlynn for coming over from Ireland to present the trophies for us.
