The schedule has been finalised for our 125th anniversary celebrations this weekend. Larry McCarthy, president of the GAA, is a special guest at McGovern Park on Saturday, where he will unveil two plaques to commemorate London GAA's most famous sons.
The tribute to Sam Maguire and Liam MacCarthy will kick off a packed weekend of events as follows:
Saturday 2nd October:
12pm - Plaque unveiling
1:30pm - London senior hurling team v Best of Britain selection
3pm - London senior football team v Best of Britain selection
7pm (at Clayton, Chiswick) - Gala dinner dance celebrating 125 years of London GAA
Sunday 3rd October:
12pm - Youth game
1:30pm - Kilburn Gaels v Thomas McCurtains - McAleer & Rushe Senior Hurling Championship
3pm - London intermediate hurling team v London shinty (to commemorate the first ever game played once London GAA affiliated in 1896)
Travel:
Please note that there is no parking within the grounds this weekend. Cars will need to use residential roads nearby.
The central line to South Ruislip is down this weekend for maintenance, but can still be accessed via the overground coming from Wembley Stadium station.
Alternatively, the Piccadilly and Metropolitan lines are serving Ruislip station, where the E7 bus will drop you right from the station to the gates at McGovern Park. This bus can also be accessed at the other end of the route, if patrons are travelling from Ealing or Greenford.
