200 footballers playing in Greenford over two days
London's first school blitz's of the year took place this month in Greenford. Boys and Girls from Mount Carmal, St. Augustine's, St. Monica's, St. Raphaels, St. John Fisher, St. Teresa's and Colville took part in the Primary School Year 6 blitz. After a competitive Group Stage the groups were then seeded and the schools played off a knockout round.
St. Augustines, St Teresa's and Colville played off with St. Augustines and St, Teresa's meeting in the final.
After a tight group game Mount Carmal battled to victory over group A winners St. Raphaels to set up a final clash with St. Monica's who over came St. John Fisher.
St. Monica's and Mount Carmal battled it out in wet conditions. St. Monica's pulled through but credit must go to both sides.
London also hosted a boys Year 7/8 Secondary Schools Development Tournament, with players from St. James Collindale, Finchley, Salvatorian, Cardinal Wiseman, Ealing Fields and Ruislip High involved.
In a action packed group stage with each school playing over 60 mins of football the knockout stage was set. The development competition was designed to provide more games for footballers from the age of 11- 13 and also to allow clubs recruit new players.
After the group stage, St. James met Finchley in the final with Finchley pulling through.
These tournament's are non- competitive tournaments with football the main aim and providing as much as possible.
