London Senior Football Championship round-up
September 24, 2018
Champions Fulham Irish, Tir Chonaill Gaels, North London Shamrocks and Round Towers will contest the 2018 London Senior Football Championship semi-finals after the final round of round-robin matches was completed at the weekend.
Shamrocks booked their place in the last-four despite a 1-05 to 0-06 defeat to St Kiernans on Saturday in Ruislip before Round Towers thumped Cuchulainns 2-19 to 0-05 in Greenford a day later to send Kiernans out on points difference.
A David Givney-inspired Fulham Irish edged TCG 0-12 to 1-06 in a repeat of last year's Senior final, after the Gaels fired one point after half-time, in the Saturday evening rain at McGovern Park.
Round Towers then knew that if they won by 17 points or more they would send Kiernans out the exit door and duly saw off Cuchulainns by 20 to book a last-four spot at the expense of the unfortunate north Londoners.
Kingdom Kerry Gaels took on Parnells in the final clash of the weekend with the lead changing hands multiple times in a thrilling contest.
An exciting first half saw both teams level on 1-08 at the break before a late Eoin Bradley penalty, the Derry forward finishing with 1-07 in all, helping Parnells secure Senior status for another year following a nailbiting 2-14 to 1-15 triumph.
