The Senior men played two very important League games with two very different results. The game on the 19th July v Cuchulainns saw a defeat 1 – 13 to 0-08. With only one point scored by Parnells in the first half to 1 – 05, the team fought back somewhat in the second half but could not make up for a poor start. However, in the knowledge that a win on against the Brendan’s the following Sunday (after Neasden Gaels lost their game) could see them secure a place in the League Final; all was to play for. A much better performance ensued in this game and a vital win was secured, 3 – 15 to 0 – 13. The team are now looking forward to a re match v Cuchulainns in the League final on the 30th September.
The U18’s also played during the week in a League game v St Kiernans. The team contained numerous younger players who all got off to a flying start and we led by 1 – 08 to 1 – 01 at half time with a debut goal for Niall Murphy having returned to gaelic this season after a long absence. However the good work was undone in the second half when St Kiernans hit the back of the net 4 times in the last 15 mins thereby losing the game 1 – 17 to 5 – 07. The actual result had no impact on the League standings and Parnells are in the Minor League Final in September.
