Parnells Club Notes
June 26, 2017
County football has been the dominant theme for adult and youth football this last week for the club with both senior and youth players in training sessions for their important weekend games. London faced Carlow and it was unfortunate that they lost by a point. Parnells Martin Carroll and Jaralth Branagan featured in the starting line up with Greg Crowley in the squad. The club congratulates all involved with the London set up and hope to see them come back stronger next year.
Likewise for the U14 North London Feile team with the following boys from the club who made the squad/team: Ronan Hutchins, Patrick Murphy, Beanon Corrigan, Darragh Griffin and Aiden Doran. The team won their group but were unfortunate in losing out to a team from Louth in the quarter final. By contrast the London U14 girls team had success beating St John Bosco (Newry, Co Down) 1 – 03 to 0 – 4. Several Parnells girls made the team/squad so massive congratulations to them all on this major achievement, All Ireland Shield Champions Div. 6 and well done to Brea Corrigan from our youth U12 team who was part of it. The London Youth Committee, managers and mentors from London have all worked extremely hard for the last few months to get them there and deserve recognition for their time and commitment.
The Seniors are in full training for preparation for two games this weekend in the Senior and Reserve Leagues. Good luck to both teams at Greenford. Please ensure everyone turns out for training taking place at Northwick Park on Tuesday 7.30 – 9.00pm.
Well done to the U6 and 10 teams that went to NLS Go Games Blitz. The U16’s had a walkover v Gael Londain which was disappointing. Good luck to the U14’s who play St Kiernans on Friday in the championship semi-final. Parnells are really looking forward to hosting the U12 Conrad Ryan Tournament July 1st at Northwick Park. Registration is at 10.30am. 3 ‘trophies’ to be played for-Conrad Ryan Cup, Norah Togher Plate and Gerry Somers Shield. Always an enjoyable event and helps us remember those important club people who have since passed and who without them, Parnells wouldn’t have progressed as they have done.
Good luck to both the U16 (28th June 7.30pm) and U18 (1st July 1.00pm) London teams who are playing Hertfordshire at Glen Rovers GAA, Watford.
The club would like to wish Mark White all the best when he takes to the saddle to participate in the Ring of Kerry Charity Cycle Race this Saturday. Please read the news piece on the website where details for sponsorship can be found.
Next youth club meeting 19/7/17 8.15pm, The Green Man, Kingsbury.
