U17 Youth-News Focus

Parnells would like to congratulate the U17 team on their magnificent win against St Kiernan’s in the U17 Development League Final which took place on a bright and sunny afternoon on the 1^st of April in Greenford.  Both sides produced tremendous football; exhibiting skills, grit and determination and the players and managers of both teams should be complemented as should the referee James Carry who officiated in a fine and fair manner.  After a close first half, ending with Parnells leading 2-05 to 2-03, they pulled away with a spate of 3 goals in the opening stages of the second half.  St Kiernans kept the pressure up defending well and scoring on the counter attack but Parnells upped their game with a strong finish securing the win.  Final score 8 – 07 to 5 – 08.

Senior Men News

Winter training has now ceased and recommences at Northwick Park playing fields on Tuesdays from 7.30 – 9.00pm.  Fantastic turnout so far and all looking forward to a positive start to the season.  Some memberships still outstanding, please see Jimmy Wilson.  Players, mentors and managers are looking forward to the club trip to Maynooth, Co Kildare on the 8^th and 9^th April, staying at The Glen Royal Hotel.  All new players welcome to training, please contact Dennis Diggins (07768 352680).

Congratulations to Gerry Canavan who played on the team last year on his call up to the U21 Mayo side.  Forthcoming Events:  Golf Day on the 5/5/2017 at Mill Hill Golf Club, 2pm.  All details and forms on the Club Website.

Youth News

Outdoor training now begins for all at Northwick Park playing fields.  The u6/8/10 starting with sessions on a Wednesday over Easter-April 5^th/12^th and from the 19^th onwards from 6.30-7.30/7.45pm. U12’s-Thursday’s 6.30-7.45pm, U14’s-Tuesday 6.15-7.30pm, U16’s-Tuesday 6.30 – 7.45pm.  Minors linking up with the Seniors for their training sessions.

‘Race for Sam & Liam’- Entries by envelope (available from committee members), £10 ea. with a cash prize of £500.  Club trip to Oughterard, Co Galway taking place from the 30/4 – 1/5 2017.

Gaelic 4 Girls:  After two very successful years of introducing girls to the game, Parnells have been selected to participate in the Gaelic 4 Girls programme for the third time. Training starts on Wednesday 5^th of April at Northwick Park at 6.30pm-7.30pm. If you attend ALL 8 weeks, you receive a free jersey. Contact Fiona Corrigan on 07940 568702 for more details.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family of Andy and Natalie Hanley from Ballahadreen (Mayo/Roscommon border), friends of the club whose son, Tommy (age 16) passed away.  May he rest in peace.
