Thomas McCurtains Hurling & Football Club Notes
November 16, 2016
Thomas McCurtains GAA Club Notes:
Well done to the Hurlers who won the McCullough Cup final on Saturday. McCurtains started strongly with a goal and a flurry of points and stayed in control throughout the game to pick up their second cup of the season. A big thanks must go to the management team of Brian Ryan and Liam Griffin and all the players who played throughout the year.
TMC Camogie are hosting their first official fundraiser in the Black Lion, Plaistow, to mark the end of a fantastic debut season! A great night of trad music and ceili awaits with music from Joe Searson and friends and special performances from Sarah Conway, the brush dancers and more!! Host for the evening is Chairman Paddy. £10 on the door, raffle on the night. All members are encouraged to support the girls.
There are no fixtures for the club next weekend as the footballers await confirmation of the time and date of their final.
Hurling:
Result: McCullough Cup Final – Thomas McCurtains: 3-16, Fr. Murphy's: 5-03.
McCurtains started strongly registering 1-07 without reply in the opening ten minutes. Murphy's hit back with two scrappy goals before the break but couldn't reduce the deficit by more than 6 leaving the half time score 1-10 to 2-01 in McCurtains favour. The second half continued in the same fashion as the first with the lads from East London in control all over the pitch and again scoring 1-04 without reply. Again Murphy's hit back with a few goals but it was a case of too little too late.
