U12's London Youths Exhibition Match in Croke Park
It was a great honor for two teams of thirty children both boys and girls from various clubs in London to represent the U12's London Youths in an eleven minute exhibition match in Croke Park last Saturday the 6th of August at the half time interval of the Dublin v Donegal All Ireland Senior Football Championship Quarter - Final. The young Gaels loved the experience of been able to showcase their abilities and skills in our National Stadium while representing London GAA. A very important day for the children playing in the footsteps of many legends before them to create an array of life time lasting memories for themselves. The children were amazed and full of excitement, some been their first time in Croke Park to witness the huge spectacle of the double header Tyrone v Mayo and Dublin v Donegal games as many of our youths families originated from these Counties. Our teams were even able to meet some of their idols in the tunnel after their own game. Children who played were Jack Hanley, Terry Gallagher, Anna O' Farrell, Harry Cunningham, Joseph Thornton, Thomas Murphy, Jemma McNulty, Kian O' Halloran, Liam Reese-Fitzgerald, Dáire O' Dalaigh, RoisÃn Kelly, Finn Shortall, Tiernan Dunne, Joseph McCormack, Conor Cronin, Orla Hegarty, Tommy McDermott, Killian Giblin, Holly Lynott, Conor Sweeney, Adam McInern, Ryan Harvey, Niall O' Brien, Sean Howley, Beanon Corrigan, Brea Corrigan, Conor Griffin, Darragh Griffin, James Byrne, Ciarán Guthrie who are representatives from Parnell's, Tara's, Tir Chonaill Gaels, St Clarets, Thomas McCurtains, Granuaile, Dulwich Harps, Kilburn Gaels, St Kiernan's, North London Shamrock's and Round Towers clubs in London. The huge work and effort that coaches and managers put in from all clubs was reflected in the youths exhibition game and long may it continue. A big thanks to all at Croke Park for their kind hospitality and for allowing our youths this wonderful opportunity to play on such an important day. A special thanks to London Youths Secretary Joel McInern (TCG), Lucia Butler London Youths PRO (Tara) and all London Youths Committee, Coleen Colleen Lynott London Girls Development (TCG), Sinéad Griffin London Children's Officer (Parnell's), Chris Burns (St Kiernan's), Hugo Sweeney (TCG) The children should be commended for their excellent behavior and sportsmanship at this stunning event in Croke Park. Well done to all the parents for their continued support in helping to raise the profile of our Gaelic game in the London GAA.
U14 B Football Championship Final
Tara v St Kiernanâs U14 B Football Championship final will be held in Mill Hill on Saturday the 3rd of September at 2pm.
The London GAA Development Squad
The London GAA Development Squad had mixed fortunes in the recent Provincial Championship Finals with the U-16's acquitting themselves very well and emerging victiorious while the U-18's came up short after a very brave performance considering the circumstances. This now concludes the season for the U-18's and we wish them every success for the future as they advance into adult football and hope they will continue to blossom and go on to have great careers in Gaelic Football.
The U-16's will continue their season as we will be bringing the squad over to the Dermot Earley Tournament in Ballyhaunis, Co.Mayo on September 3rd. Preparations will continue with training in Greenford on Wednesday, August 17th at 7.00 p.m.
All players are asked to be in attendance for 6.45 p.m. and it is imperative that a parent make contact with us if their son is unable to attend any session. There is a training squad of 40 players that has been named for the next 3 weeks but only 20 players will be going to Ireland so there will be great competition for places.
The following players have been selected for the U-16 London Development Training Squad:
From Parnells Kieran Rice, Joshua Obahor, Patrick Peach, Conall White, Luke McHugh, Conor Doran, Eamonn Kane, Ciaran Griffin, Michael Walsh, Lewis Dickinson, Niall Bradshaw, Niall Twomey, Eoghan Reilly, Sam Langan, Jojo Thabo
