Next Matches:
Harlesden Harps reserve team play their next game in their championship campaign against North London Shamrocks this Saturday 13th August at 3:00pm at Greenford (pitch one), London, (UB6 0NZ). Letâs make sure we get there early to prepare properly and start the campaign off with a victory.
As usual, check public transport is in use and for any likely traffic delays, etc and make sure everyone is at the venue nice and early for a proper preparation for the games.
Previous Matches:
A mixed weekend for the club with Saturdays reserve fixture scheduled against Parnells called off and The Harps awarded the points for the game. Thanks to all who made themselves available and a shame the fixture didnât get to go ahead but another fixture coming up this weekend (see above).
Harlesden Harps senior team were also in action in the VGC Intermediate Championship against Neasden Gaels last Sunday evening. A strong, blustery wind made conditions for the game difficult and our boys had its benefit in the first half. After taking some time to adapt properly to the weather the Harps gradually begun to dominate possession and duly tagged on some fine points from distance from Ben O Mahony, Peter and John Rafferty and a clinical goal from Mossie O Donovan. However, in the second half a different approach to the game had to be taken and with captain Robert Reid leading the charge from the back the Harps were holding out against the expected charge from the Gaels until 10 minutes before the end a soft and unfortunate goal was scored by Neasden to bring them level in the match. This gave them the momentum to finish the stronger running out winners on a scoreline of Harps 1-12 Gaels 1-14. Although a loss on the day a win against Heston in the final group game will be enough to see the Harps progress to the semi-final stages of the competition.
Congratulations:
Congratulations to current player Deccie McCarthy who tied the knot with the new Mrs Mac, Leith Marie, at the weekend, many years of happiness to you both.
