Well done to The London GAA U-16 Development Squad who defeated Lancashire on a scoreline of 8-07 to 0-03 in the All-Britain U-16 Championship Semi-Final at Pairc na hEireann, Birmingham last Saturday. This was a comprehensive performance on the day from a very competent outfit that played some fast flowing football and were a joy to behold at times. They were also defensively solid throughout but will know that a substantial improvement will be required if they are to achieve their goals for the season ahead. This is a fantastically talented group of players who now have an All-Britain Championship Final and the Dermot Earley Tournament in Ballyhaunis, Co.Mayo to look forward to this season. There is no doubting that if they apply themselves going forward that they can go on to represent London for many years to come.
There were some outstanding performances on the day with Conal Vaughan racking up another clean sheet, Michael Walsh and Conor Redmond defiant at the back, Felim Conroy and Elliott McPhunn leading the attack but the stand out performer on the day was the imposing presence of Caolan Doyle in midfield. Doyle was immense from start to finish. Strong in the tackle, composed on the ball and he finished the match with 2-4 to his name.
The All-Britain Championship Finals (U-16 and U-18) are on Saturday, July 16th and it would be great if we could get a large contingent from London GAA in attendance on the day to support the lads in both Finals.
