Next Match:
After a break of a number of years Harlesden Harps will proudly enter a team in Reserve football competitions for 2016. This will allow a greater involvement for more players and makes it an exciting time for the club.
The teams first competitive fixture is this Tuesday 24th May at Northwick Park (HA0 3TQ) against Parnells in the AIB Reserve Football League. Throw in for the game is at 7:15pm. In order to have a proper warm up and preparation, aim to get to the venue in plenty of time. Letâs hope for a winning start to the competition for the team.
Next Matches:
Harlesden Harps senior team will have a break from games until after the bank holiday weekend, details to follow closer to the time.
Previous Match:
The team played St Josephs last Sunday in the final of the Murphy Cup at Tottenhall. An enthralling contest ensued with the Joes establishing an early lead thanks to a well taken goal, going in five points to the good at half time. However, the Harps emerged a rejuvenated team in the second half chipping into the lead with some super football and fine point taking. Eventually the constant pressure saw Darren Lynch upended in the penalty area as he was about to shoot for goal. After he dusted himself off he calmly dispatched the spot kick to the back of the onion bag. The lead changed hands in the last 10 minutes and with the teams level extra time looked to be on the cards. However, the referee somehow found a substantial amount of injury time and with the last kick of the game the Joes got the victory, 1-14 â 1-13, the final whistle going immediately after their score. John Rafferty was top scorer for the Harps, with some super performances throughout the team, in particular from Peter Rafferty, Ben O Mahony and captain Robert Reid leading by example from full back. In the end a heartbreaking loss where neither team deserved to lose a marvellous game of football, it would be no surprise if these two teams were to meet again later in the summer for another battle.
Training:
