Emmetts' face Gabriel's in London Hurling decider08-10-2018

Irish World London GAA Senior Hurling Championship

Robert Emmetts 1-16 0-15 Kilburn Gaels

The final group game of the Irish World London GAA Senior Hurling Championship pitted Kilburn Gaels against Robert Emmett’s, with the winner advancing to face St Gabriel’s in the County Final at McGovern Park, Ruislip,

Saturday's match, replayed after the unfortunate incident with Kilburn's Brian O’Regan the week before, had some nice displays of hurling from both sides but it was the free takers who were in top form.

The majority of scores in the first half were from Robert Emmetts' Benny McCarry dead balls as well as some good individual performances from McCarry, Tadhg Healy and Killian Burke.

Henry Vaughan also played well but the stand-out performer on the day was Aaron Sheehan of Kilburn Gaels, who kept his team within touching distance throughout despite a strong breeze blowing and conditions continuing to deteriorate.

In a second half that was nip and tuck, with both teams exchanging scores, there was never more than two points between the sides.

Cian Lordan then clinched victory for Robert Emmetts by firing to the net to help his side advance to the final following a four-point winning margin.
