U18 Football Championship Semi-Final
St. Kiernan’s 0-12
Tír Chonaill Gaels/Tara GFC 1-02
This game was played in beautiful conditions for football on the Sunday the 15th in Tír Chonaill Gaels GAA in Greenford. As Parnell’s were league champions they received a bye into the final where they awaited the winner of this match. St. Kiernan’s were favourites and so it proved. TCG/Tara gave it their all and put it up to Kiernan’s for long periods even notching a goal in the first half which only left 3 points between the teams at half time when the score stood at 0-7 to 1-1. That was about as good as got for TCG/Tara as St. Kiernan’s stepped it up in the second half and outclassed their opponents while showcasing their score taking ability ending with 12 points. TCG/Tara could only muster a point in a difficult second half for them. Best players on the day were Matthew Joyce, Jack Ryan and Michael Keohane who led and inspired Kiernan’s to victory. A big mention must go to Kiernan’s who have now set up the opportunity to play Parnell’s in the Final on the 4th of November in which they hope to win and complete the double of u16 and u18 football championships. Jason Malarkey is the manager of both these teams and these teams are backboned by many of the same players including Martin Sexton, Matthew Joyce, Caolon Doyle, Conleth Gallagher and Brendan Prior.
