Caoimhe Gallagher is the new London Rose
Caoimhe Gallagher has been selected as the 2017 London Rose. Caoimhe, 24, is from Killorglin, Co. Kerry and is currently a Physiotherapist at St George's Hospital and Wimbledon RFC.
Caoimhe, whose father hails from Donegal and mother from Kerry, represented Irish Construction Company Danny Sullivan Group based in London.
On the 12th of May, the specialised physiotherapist was selected from 16 other hopefuls at the annual London Rose of Tralee selection ball at the Clayton Crown Hotel in Cricklewood. She wowed the judges with an energetic performance of the Lord of the Dance that saw her not only dance but sing the chorus of the well-known piece. She impressed the 280 strong audience with tales from her charity trip to Zambia, her passion for music and dance, as well as her fundraising.
Caoimhe was presented her sash by outgoing 2016 London Rose Emma Murphy-O’Connor after Chairman Noel O'Sullivan announced her as the winner. The judges had a difficult decision to make with 16 strong ladies interviewed and assessed from early that afternoon. This year the finalists were treated to a replica Rose of Tralee mini-tour to give them a taste of the Tralee experience where they were treated to a reception with Ambassador Dan Mulhall and a charity GAA match.
Caoimhe Gallagher, London Rose said; "I can't even begin to describe how fantastic it feels to represent my adopted home as the London rose 2017. I have dreamt of becoming a rose my entire life and that dream has finally come through. I am extremely honoured to be returning home to Kerry in August donning the London sash. I am so grateful to be London Rose Centre for giving me this amazing opportunity and for introducing me to the most amazing ladies in my 2017 London class. I think I speak for all of us when I say that Tralee will be an experience of a lifetime for us all. I will do my best to represent you all to the best of my ability and make you all proud at the International Rose of Tralee festival 2017."
Caoimhe will go on to represent London at the Rose of Tralee festival in August. It is the second time that all Rose centres will go straight to Tralee to participate in the competition.
